The Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework came into force on 1st September 2008. You can download a pack here.
All Early Years inspections are now against the EYFS requirements and you should have now received a copy of Ofsted's booklet Are You Ready for Your Inspection? If you haven't got one yet you can download it from the Ofsted website.
If you are registered on the Early Years Register to care for children from birth to the 31st August after their 5th birthday, you will need to abide by the Early Years Foundation Stage.
While written policies are not compulsory for registered childminders in the EYFS, (page 20 point 3.9), it is considered good practice. Having written policies makes it easy for Ofsted to see what your policy is and having written policies prevents misunderstandings with parents.
