An exciting opportunity to hear Sir Richard Bowlby, son of Dr. John Bowlby talk about the importance of attachment when working with babies and young children John Bowlby was the first attachment theorist, describing attachment as a "lasting psychological connectedness between human beings" .

Bowlby believed that the earliest bonds formed by children with their caregivers have a tremendous impact that continues throughout life.

Northamptonshire Childminding Association is very proud that Sir Richard has become our first patron. He will talk about:

  • brain development
  • the pyramid of attachment
  • attachment and fathers
  • risk factors
  • the effects of secure and insecure attachment
  • examples from Dr. John Bowlby’s work

This conference is useful for all Early Years Practitioners, staff supporting Early Years Settings, teachers and trainers of Early Years Practitioners as well as Family Support staff, foster parents and anyone who works with or supports families with vulnerable children.
