NCA to support 2 year old trial
NCA are delighted to announce that childminders will be a crucial part of the new trial looking at new approaches to increasing the access to free childcare places for vulnerable 2 year olds when the current pilot is extended in 2013 to include around 2,000 children in Northamptonshire. Northamptonshire County Council were one of only 15 local authorities whose bids were accepted to take part in this trial.
For this trial, we are looking to increase the number of childminders who are able to offer the funded hours for the most vulnerable 2 year old children and improve their outcomes. We will do this by increasing the number of network childminders by an additional 40 in the most disadvantaged areas. Network childminders work well above the Ofsted requirements and are monitored rigorously by NCA to ensure that standards are maintained.
As network childminders need to be at Level 3, we will be working with YMCA to provide the new Level 3 Diploma in Child Care More information
There will also be access to further workshops around working with vulnerable 2 year olds
