Safeguarding Children
It is crucial that you keep up to date with the procedures for safeguarding children. In Northamptonshire, you will need to download three documents from the the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCBN) website.
- Procedures to follow if an allegation is made against you, your family or your assistants if you employ any. LSCB Northamptonshire procedures Chapter 5.2
In adition, you need to download a copy of the Government document What to do if you are worried a child is being abused. Although this document has been archived by the Government, you are still required to follow it's guidance as stated in the Statutory Framework for EYFS on page 22.
Ofsted have given us the following statement..
‘What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused’ is still valid for use but until a further revision is published, it should be used in context with the current Working Together document (published in 2010) at https://www.education.gov.uk/publications/standard/publicationDetail/Page1/DCSF-00305-2010
What to do if you are worried a Child is being Abused-summary
Our recommendation is that, if an allegation of child abuse is made against you or your family you should say that you will contact both the Northamptonshire County Council - Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) Contact Centre and Ofsted. The CYPS Contact Centre will contact the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
It is strongly recommended that you read through these documents every 6 months. Why not regsiter on the LSCBN website for automatic updates which will inform you when the procedures have changed? It is vital that you keep your downloaded copies up to date.
