Vetting and Barring Scheme

The Government has announced changes to the procedures for ensuring that all staff who work with vulnerable people are properly vetted and that people are prevented from working in jobs with vulnerable people if they are unsuitable. The scheme is known as the Vetting and Barring Scheme and changes have recently been made to the scheme to simplify it and to bring it more in line with the previous system of Criminal Record Bureau checks.

You need to be aware of this scheme, particularly if you employ an assistant as you must ensure that all who work with children have been vetted.
