What ongoing costs will I have?
Once your childminding business is up and running there are ongoing costs to consider
- Ofsted Annual fee. You will be charged a similar fee to your registration fee annually to keep your registration open. If you change registers, this fee may change.
- Public Liability Insurance has to be in place constantly regardless of whether you are currently minding
- Car/House Insurance, needs maintaining
- Food and drink and cleaning products need to be purchased as needed.
- Training. Continuous training may result in some costs, such as text books, travel expenses and course costs in some cases
- Salary. You need to think about how much salary you need from your childminding business and build this into a plan of how many children you need to care for to make your childminding viable
- Replacing or adding toys, craft items and equipment as needed
